Electric Signs and Outline Lighting

Georgia's "Special Equipment, Conditions, and Locations" block (21 questions on both exams) names "Install electric signs" as a task. Almost all of it is Article 600. The numbers: 20 A / 30 A, 14 ft, 2 in. / 90 °C, ¼–½ in. drain holes, 15 ft cord, 12 in. GFCI, 3 × 3 × 3 ft, 36 × 22½ in., 15,000 V / 7500 V / 300 mA, GTO 18 AWG 105 °C, one conductor per conduit / trade size ½, 20 ft / 50 ft, 1½ in. / 1¾ in., 100 ft FMC bonding, 14 AWG bonding jumper, 6 ft Class 2 cable support, twice the transformer current.

1. Listing and markings — 600.3, 600.4

• Fixed, mobile or portable signs, section signs, outline lighting, PV-powered signs and retrofit kits are listed and labeled and installed per the listing. Field-installed skeleton tubing need not be listed when installed per the Code; outline lighting built from listed luminaires wired per Chapter 3 need not be listed as a system.
• Markings: manufacturer, input voltage and current; retrofitted signs are marked that the illumination system was replaced (with the kit provider's and installer's identifier) and, for tubular LED lamps in existing sockets, a 110.21(B) label warning not to install fluorescent lamps; incandescent lampholders show the maximum lamp wattage in letters at least ¼ in. high, visible during relamping; every sign is marked that field wiring and installation instructions are required (except cord-connected portable signs).
