Georgia's PSI exams give 9 questions to Comply with Regulations, where OSHA 29 CFR 1926 is the first named source. The construction standard for electrical work is 29 CFR 1926 Subpart K (§§ 1926.400–1926.449). It reads like a condensed 1970s NEC — most numbers match the NEC you already know, and the exam likes the places where OSHA states a rule in its own words. This lesson covers the installation half (402–408); lesson 02 covers work practices, lockout and tools; lesson 03 covers recordkeeping and reporting (Part 1904).
1. How Subpart K is organised (1926.400, 1926.402)
- Installation safety requirements (1926.402–1926.408) — apply to installations used to provide electric power and light on the jobsite, temporary or permanent, but not to existing permanent installations that were in place before construction began.
- Safety-related work practices (1926.416–1926.417), maintenance and environmental considerations (1926.431–1926.432), special equipment (1926.441 batteries) and definitions (1926.449).
- "Approved" means acceptable to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSH (1926.449) — not to a local inspector. Listing/labeling by a qualified testing laboratory is the usual evidence of suitability (1926.403(b)(1)(i)).
